We’re looking for a Design Program Manager who is enthusiastic about supporting operational strategy and evolving a holistic design process within a growing organization.

About the Role

We are looking for an intrinsically motivated, diligent, and self-guided Design Program Manager to join the small and effective HashiCorp Design Ops team. The ideal candidate has broad experience supporting the operations of design teams from managing large scale projects to coordinating programs for design systems, tooling, user research, and teamwork and culture. We are looking for someone with a systems-driven mind, who is comfortable with autonomy and ambiguity, capable of driving consensus across teams from multiple disciplines, and most importantly recognizes the integral role design plays in delivering on business goals and how design ops supports that mission.

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with remote design and cross-functional teams to drive the execution of UX, brand, and marketing design projects
  • Collaborate with marketing, product, engineering and technical program management to improve our cross-functional workflows with an eye towards earlier engagement with design, proactive planning and scalability
  • Develop, document and educate teams on these new processes created in support of improved cross-org workflows and collaboration
  • Report on the status and health of projects/teams with a keen understanding of priorities and risks 
  • Coordinate team scheduling and resource allocation, balancing workload and delivery quality with the competing priorities of numerous cross-functional teams
  • Support in the development of design operations programs in areas such as organizational workflows, tooling, governance, onboarding, education, and team culture

You may be a good fit for our team if you:

  • Have relevant experience working in a design producer, program, project manager or other design operations-focused role 
  • Experience working closely with designers from various backgrounds and disciplines from UX/product, brand, digital, and events
  • Demonstrated command of the design practice and an understanding of when to adapt processes to meet the needs of the team
  • Skilled at balancing proactive planning with accommodating fast-moving new requests to meet business needs
  • Seasoned communicator and diplomat, possessing the ability to quickly develop rapport with team members and cross-functional partners
  • Adept at managing multiple levels of stakeholder groups across a single project or program
  • Ability to adapt and thrive in a rapidly evolving organization, showing eagerness to tackle new challenges as they arise

Nice to have:

  • Understanding of remote working best practices and methods
  • Experience advocating for and developing processes in support of a design team
  • Knowledge of design systems
  • Experience supporting user research operations
