IT Systems Engineer

About the role

HashiCorp is looking for a high-caliber Information System Engineer who will provide both support to our employees and help grow the infrastructure that helps us scale! The role requires significant hands-on experience, as this person will be working on long-term projects as well as handling day-to-day user support

You'll report to the IT Manager - User Support EMEA/APAC, the Information Systems Engineer will be a key member of the IT Team, and will operate as a trusted advisor and primary resource for end-user support, as well as multi-functional support for both technical and non-technical groups at HashiCorp. The successful candidate will be comfortable in a fast-paced environment with significant and exciting change.

In this role you can expect to

  • Respond to information technology help desk requests and provide assistance via phone, e-mail, remote access, and onsite support; escalating more complex requests to senior staff members
  • Update all assigned tickets on a daily basis
  • Performs tasks assigned by the IT Manager in a timely and professional manner.
  • Perform basic configuration, installation and maintenance of workstations, laptops, printers, telephones, mobile devices, and other peripherals
  • Troubleshoot basic software, hardware, and network issues; escalating more complex issues to senior staff members
  • Train end-users in operating systems, application programs, and basic computer functionality
  • Excellent written skills to write, maintain documentation and knowledge base articles.
  • Support the on-boarding and off-boarding of employees
  • Perform software and hardware procurement for staff
  • Track and maintain IT inventory
  • Maintain and deploy laptops for new hires and return laptops from departed employees.
  • Unpack, organize and open boxes of equipment
  • Ship equipment and RMA equipment to local Shipment vendor

You may be a good fit for our team if you have

  • At least 2 years helpdesk experience
  • At least 2 years of experience tracking tickets via Fresh Service, ZenDesk, JIRA or other enterprise ticketing systems
  • Understanding of ITIL best practices
  • Basic networking and hardware knowledge
  • Efficient in Windows 10, Apple Mac, iOS, Android
  • Experience in administration of SaaS applications, especially with Okta, gPanel
  • Excellent communication skills and a flexible professional attitude
  • Affinity for dealing with details and enjoys doing it
  • The ability to work independently using your own initiative to find solutions to non-standard issues and requests, can-do attitude to problem solving
  • Ability to operate in high pressure situations, successfully handle multiple priorities and possess a high level of discipline while remaining flexible
  • Energetic, resourceful and a hands-on individual
  • Asset Management of IT equipment experience, preferably using Assetsonar
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs in order to move equipment as necessary
  • Ability to crawl under a desk in order to access equipment as necessary
  • Incumbents may be on call to provide support services during off-hours
