Remote Culture at HashiCorp
Mitchell Hashimoto, HashiCorp Founder and co-CTO
Many of us are working from home for the first time in light of current events. What does successful remote work culture look like? HashiCorp was founded as a remote-first company and has continued this culture as we have grown to nearly 1,000 employees. Hear from Mitchell first-hand on what his typical day looks like and what he's learned over the years while building a distributed company.
Moving to a Microservice World: Leveraging Consul on Azure
Alex Jauch & Erik Veld, HashiCorp
This talk explains the challenges of distributed systems and will walk through using Consul to connect virtual machines together. Alex Jauch will talk through service-based networking across dynamic infrastructure with Consul service mesh.
Unlocking Cloud with GitOps (with Terraform and Sentinel)
Lachlan White, AGL Energy
This talk walks through lessons learned at AGL Energy, using Terraform Enterprise and Sentinel to unlock the value of cloud technology, by enabling an internal open-source model and re-usable collaborative infrastructure as code.
Keeping a Secret (with Vault)
Nick Cabatoff, HashiCorp
Ensuring that secrets are actually secret is not as easy as it sounds. Secrets can leak from a number of different sources including human error, compromised applications, and more. Leaked secrets become incredibly costly for your business at a rapid speed. In this talk, Nick Cabatoff will introduce the principles and best practices of HashiCorp Vault. You’ll learn how an application can be retrofitted with Vault to secure access to secrets and see how operators and developers can interact with Vault.
Modern Scheduling for Modern Applications with Nomad
Jasmine Dahilig, HashiCorp
This talk will walk through the benefits of leveraging modern schedulers, how they increase developer and operator productivity, and how they allow cost-saving through tighter resource utilisation. Jasmine will give a demo of Nomad and show how it can be used to run Docker-based applications.
