Consul and Vault on AWS: Quick Start Guides

At HashiCorp, we make tools that automate the modern datacenter, so you can secure, provision, and run any application on any infrastructure. Today we are excited to announce the general availability of AWS Quick Start Guides for two of our popular open source tools: Consul and Vault.

In case you are unfamiliar, Consul is a tool for service discovery, health checking, and a highly-available distributed key-value store. Vault is a tool for managing secrets in your organization. To learn more about Consul or Vault, please see their websites:

Because of the popularity of these tools on AWS, we collaborated with the AWS team to release two new Quick Start Guides for deploying Consul and Vault on AWS.

Each Quick Start Guide provisions the necessary AWS infrastructure resources and provisions HashiCorp tools in a matter of minutes. The AWS environment consists of a Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) that spans three availability zones with public and private subnets. The Consul guide deploys a set of Consul servers and Consul clients for a full service discovery and orchestration setup. The Vault guide builds on the same Consul environment with the addition of two Vault servers in high-availability mode with Consul as the storage backend.

If you are attending AWS re:Invent next week, stop by the HashiCorp booth #2118 in the Sands Expo Hall. HashiCorp experts will be giving demos of these Quick Start guides and answering any questions you might have about HashiCorp products at our booth.  We hope to see you there!
