Many organizations adopting a cloud operating model use Terraform as a first step to provision their infrastructure. Once cloud resources are provisioned teams look to provide application networking in the cloud environment and would like an easier on-ramp to enable service-to-service communications. This managed approach to Consul enables teams to get out of the business of managing the Consul infrastructure while also enabling capabilities like zero trust networking, Layer 7 traffic management, and service discovery. These capabilities combined allow operators to establish consistent communication patterns between network types that are typically very different from each other.
