Stress Testing HCP Consul on AWS Using ECS Fargate

Learn how our SREs simulated customer environments to perform production readiness exercises for HCP Consul as it was preparing for GA launch.

HCP Consul on AWS was generally available in February of 2021. In order to get to this point, Site Reliability Engineers and Consul Cloud Engineers went through many production readiness exercises. In particular, we performed various kinds of stress testing of the product, from a customer’s point of view. In this talk, Martin Smith will take you through that journey, what kinds of simulated customer environments HashiCorp used, including using Lambda and ECS on Fargate, and some of what we discovered. And finally, he’ll present some of our thoughts on the future as well as lessons learned.
