The HCP Waypoint Private Beta Program allows select early adopters to onboard applications and try out HCP Waypoint to develop a proof of concept.
Today, we are excited to announce our first step towards launching HashiCorp Waypoint as a managed service, where it will run on the HashiCorp Cloud Platform (HCP) alongside other services including HashiCorp Terraform, Vault, Consul, and Packer. We created HCP Waypoint to help address operational challenges in the open source version of Waypoint, and improve the developer experience by making the workflow more easily consumable and enabling faster onboarding and deployments.
In October of 2020, we introduced HashiCorp Waypoint as an open source project created to provide a consistent way for developers to build, deploy, and release their applications across a variety of platforms — all by using a single file and single command: waypoint up
.
Waypoint provides tools such as logs, exec
commands, and more to validate and debug any deployments. Waypoint is based on a plugin system that allows it to work with any tools and platforms, making it extensible and simple to fit into your current workflows. By abstracting away the complexity of underlying infrastructure, Waypoint can help operators and platform teams create a unifying experience for application developers.
To deliver this experience, Waypoint uses a server to enable collaboration with other team members, storing operation history and enabling functionality such as the aforementioned logs and exec
. However for many operators, setting up a server to be operationally reliable and secure by default is a barrier to trying out Waypoint. As a managed service, HCP Waypoint promises to remove those barriers.
We are initially releasing HCP Waypoint as a private beta to gain more feedback from our community of users. A handful of early adopters will be selected to participate in a two-month beta program (July 1 - August 31), where they will complete a proof of concept on HCP Waypoint with hands-on support from the Waypoint team.
If you are interested in participating in the HCP Waypoint Private Beta Program, please fill out this form, which will help us understand your use case and current application delivery process. Don't worry, if you are not selected, we will be sure to notify you when HCP Waypoint moves to a public beta. Thank you for your interest in HCP Waypoint!
