In April 2021, HashiCorp completed the Consul Global Scale Benchmark where Consul updated 172,000+ services running on 10,000 nodes on AWS in under 1 second. Over the course of the experiment we logged over 1.8 Billion log events in Datadog. Benchmarks of this magnitude require designing a test bench to be able to scale for a large number of applications, but can be critical to building trust with customers as they grow in scale. In this panel, we will explore:

• What it takes to run a benchmark at a large scale
• The infrastructure setup and tools required to achieve it
• The impacts these sorts of tests can have on business decisions
• Ways to collect and analyze data

We’ll be joined by our friends at Datadog and AWS to discuss these topics, answer questions for viewers, and give some general best practices for those considering running their own benchmarking experiments.
