Vend: From Monolith to Microservices, with Consul and Amazon ECS

Nick Walker, principal platform engineer at Vend, talks to Amazon's Glenn Gore about how Vend migrated to microservices, using HashiCorp Consul.

Vend migrated from a PHP-based monolith to a microservices architecture, using EC2 Elastic Containers, AWS Elastic Load Balancers, Consul and OpenResty (an NGINX variant). Vend now has a service routing and discovery system that lets its developers quickly roll out new services and perform A/B testing on those services.
