HashiConf 2017 and Texas "Bathroom Bill"
We recently announced HashiConf 2017 in Austin, TX. The Texas Senate passed Senate Bill 6 (the "bathroom bill"), which targets transgender individuals by requiring they use the bathroom of the gender designated on their birth-certificate. HashiConf is dedicated to providing a harassment-free conference experience for everyone, regardless of gender, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, or religion. We do not tolerate harassment of conference participants in any form. You can read more about it in the HashiConf Code of Conduct.
HashiConf will take place September 18-20 in Austin, TX. Our conference venue, the JW Marriott Austin, supports gender-neutral bathrooms. This bill is not yet law, but rest assured that should it become law, we will not host future conferences in Texas. We apologize to the members of our community who are affected by this legislation, and we stand in support of equality and individual freedoms.
